A channel-letter LED module is a compact PCB with 2 or 3 SMD diodes potted in IP66 resin, powered at 12 V DC, glued or screwed to the back of each letter. Wired in a chain, the modules illuminate the opal-acrylic or polycarbonate face evenly, giving a clean image day and night.
How to choose the right LED module
1. Letter depth
Distance between module and face drives the beam angle. For 4-8 cm depth use 160° modules; below 4 cm pick a mini wide-angle module; above 10 cm a standard 120° optic is enough.
2. Density: how many modules per letter
Rule of thumb for 20 cm white-acrylic letters with a 6 cm depth: 1 module every 8-10 cm² of inner surface. An "O" of 20 cm needs 4-6 modules; an "M" of 30 cm between 8 and 12.
3. Colour temperature
Commercial standard is cool white 6000 K for maximum brand visibility. Neutral 4500 K for premium franchises, warm 3000 K for hospitality.
