The 250W offers 20.8 A at 12 V (10.4 A at 24 V), designed for professional installations up to ~25 m of strip or large-format signage. Both are high-power with industrial protections.

Are these drivers suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. In this 150W-250W range we offer fully potted IP67 models for outdoor use (signage, façades, architectural lighting), and IP20 models with fan for technical indoor use. Check the IP rating on each product page.

Do they include a fan or are they passively cooled?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the model. High-density IP20 versions typically include an active fan to dissipate heat. Outdoor IP67 versions are fully passive (resin-potted) and silent. Pick passive cooling if the sign is near living spaces.

How do I calculate the actual wattage I need?

Add up the consumption of all LEDs and multiply by 1.25 (20-25 % safety margin). Example: 20 m of strip at 9.6 W/m = 192 W → 250W. Never run a driver at 100 % continuously: it shortens life and triggers thermal protections.

Are they Class I or Class II?

In this high-power range, Class I with earth connection predominates — mandatory in fixed commercial and industrial installations per electrical code. Some compact models are Class II. Check the product datasheet.
